How the magic works
Three steps between you and a distraction-free session.
Enchant
Create an Enchantment — a blocklist of apps. Choose Banish mode to block specific apps, or Shield mode to allow only the ones you need.
Cast
Start your focus spell with a tap of an NFC talisman, a Quick Spell preset, or a scheduled Ritual. Set a duration, allow breaks — then cast.
Dispel
When the session ends, the spell lifts on its own. With Talisman Lock enabled, only a tap of your talisman can dispel it early — no willpower required.

Every feature in the app, free forever. No premium tier, no locked spells.
Pact Mode
Seal your worst apps shut by default — not just during sessions. Opening one takes a deliberate pact for a few minutes, made after a pause your reflexes can't survive.
Enchantments
Custom blocklists with Banish (blacklist) or Shield (whitelist) mode. Auto-banish newly installed apps so nothing slips through.
Quick Spells
Save favorite focus setups as one-tap presets like "Deep Work" or "Sleep Mode". Bind them to NFC tags or deep links.
Bring Your Own Talisman
Don't pay $50 for a "special" brick. Any generic NFC tag, sticker, or card becomes a talisman — tap to cast, tap to dispel.
Scheduled Rituals
Recurring schedules that cast automatically — work hours, study time, bedtime. Overnight spans supported, and rituals survive reboots.
Wards & Time Limits
Daily quotas and session caps per app — 30 minutes a day, 10 at a time — with cooldowns and friction that escalates each time you rattle the lock.
Conditional Unlocks
Earn time in blocked apps by first spending time in productive ones. Positive reinforcement, built right into the blocking.
Warden Mode
Optional device-owner enforcement: blocked apps grey out and simply won't open, and the app can't be uninstalled in a weak moment. How it works →
Insights & Streaks
Focus streaks, session history, app opens with reflex-tap counts, most-blocked apps, and daily usage trends — all stored privately on your device.
✦ Deeper magic, for when you need it
- Talisman Lock — require an NFC tap to end a session early, so quitting takes more than a swipe.
- Configurable breaks — allow a set number of timed breaks per session, with early-end when you're ready to resume.
- Emergency Stop — one escape hatch for true emergencies, on a weeks-long cooldown so it can't become a habit.
- Notification silencing — mute notifications and enable Do Not Disturb while focusing, restored during breaks.
- Gentle redirection — open a blocked app and you're calmly guided back to your task, not shamed.
- Survives reboots — active sessions and scheduled rituals pick right back up after a device restart.
- Auto-breaks (Pomodoro) — start a break automatically after each focused stretch, tuned anywhere from 5 to 60 minutes.
- Hidden stop button — optionally remove the stop button entirely, so a session can't be ended on impulse.
- Pact circles — bind one pact to a whole enchantment: every app in it is sealed with the same settings, new installs included.
- Healthier substitutes — a pact can offer "Open Kindle instead", usable immediately while the real choice waits out the pause.
Summon the Warden
For when an app-level block isn't enough: make Focus Pocus the device owner, and Android itself enforces the spell.

Blocking the OS enforces
During a focus session, blocked apps are suspended at the system level — launcher icons grey out and Android refuses to open them. No overlay race, no split-second flash of your feed.

Uninstall-proof willpower
While Warden Mode is active, Focus Pocus cannot be uninstalled — so a 1 a.m. moment of weakness can't undo what your better self set up.

Transparent, reversible, no root
Built on Android's standard device-owner role and used for exactly two things: suspending blocked apps and blocking uninstall. Remove it from Settings anytime — just never mid-session.
One command from a computer with adb, and the Warden holds the keys. The same steps are shown in-app under Settings → Warden Mode, with tap-to-copy commands.

Privacy

Your data stays on your device — with one exception, stated plainly.
Focus Pocus is built with a privacy-first philosophy. Your app activity, blocking configurations, and usage stats are stored locally and never uploaded. The one thing the app does send is anonymous crash reports and basic usage statistics to help fix bugs — on by default, never including personal data, and switched off with a single toggle.
- No Personal Data: No name, email, account, or personal information is ever collected.
- No Advertising ID: The advertising identifier is explicitly removed — there is no cross-app tracking or ad targeting.
- No Accounts: You do not need to create an account to use Focus Pocus.
- Permissions Stay Local: The app requires several Android permissions to power its features — all data stays on your device and is never uploaded.
- Anonymous Analytics (Optional): The app sends anonymous crash reports and basic usage statistics to help fix bugs — no personal data is ever included. Sharing is on by default, and you can turn it off during onboarding or anytime in Settings.
